I Love Art…

…and right now i am especially loving the art on the myspace page of The Miles Between. The artwork is for thier new album ‘Deceiver’, which is very, very nice.
i’ve been been on a hardcore kick lately, which happens at least once a week. i go a whole day or two listening to nothing but hardcore. though i listen to it on a regular basis (few songs a day, album every other day), i’ve found that there is nothing like having a day or two of nothing but hardcore. the music emotion is so raw and every now and then it’s a healthy dose of awesomeness 
i’ve always loved this cover and have now decided to type up this lovely blog about it. check out more of the band and their rad artwork. Click the pic below…

Sleeping Giant

i can’t say that i have one favorite band; i have many. one of my favs are sleeping giant from redlands, ca. for me, there is nothing like them; nothing like their music, their passion, and their intense shows. i not only love their music but look up to their faith. i had the pleasure of interviewing them for bleacht magazine, which was awesome.
i asked them at the end of the interview if they were going to play my favorite song,’no sleep from my eyes’, they said yes and asked me why it was my fav song. i always felt like i could’ve answered that question better. it’s my favorite song, because i always strive to have my heart cry out those lyrics: “All my life I wished for a fight that actually meant something more than all this earthly waste I hope to bring people face to face with you Lord…You’ll get no sleep from my eyes.”

Johnny Cupcakes Lecture: VA

if you know anything about me, you know i love johnny cupcakes. i respect the brand and the man behind it. i went to the lecture tonight (accompanied by my best friend) in northern virginia at west potomac academy/high school. it was surreal seeing someone who is practically the same age as me be swarmed by a group of kids taking photos and getting autographs, especially someone who makes a living out of the simple joy of making t-shirts.
i waited around a bit and thought about what i would say if i met him and i think all i really had to say was thank you. i couldn’t get through the little mob around him, but left a note on the back of my sticker saying thanks. thanks for the inspiration and being someone who i can look up to as a business person.
im sure he gets it a lot, but hey, sometimes you just gotta put it out there

Doodle 4 Google

Google has set up a competition called Doodle 4 Google where they have invited K-12 grade students to recreate their homepage logo. This year’s theme is “What I Wish for the World.”

KNOW YOUR ICE CREAM…

for me, the best way to do something well is to do the necessary reseach on that something to make sure the end product stays true to its roots.
i am currently working on my ICE CREAM SOCIAL Summer collection and event (yup…event). to prepare, i’ve been doing some research on ice cream. it’s been a lot of fun. here’s some of the fun facts i found this evening:
- In 1700 Governor Bladen of Maryland served ice cream to his guests.
- The first ice cream parlor in America opened in New York City in 1776.
- Dolly Madison created a sensation when she served ice cream as a dessert in the White House at the second inaugural ball in 1812.
- 80 percent of the world’s Vanilla Bean used for ice cream is grown in Madagascar.

ha. sorry, got some b-more club stuck in my head.
this past year has been amazing and absolutely insane. i have seen some of my closet friends reach heights that i never new they could reach. you always know, but you don’t really know–you think you know, but you have no idea. my girl danielle made her mind last year that instead of wishing she could find an amazing online platform that catered to women of color (african-american, asian, latino, etc.), she would create one herself, WHICH LAUNCHED TODAY!!!!
now…im not going to keep you here and have you read about me blabbing about how awesome her site is, im going to send you to it.
