Memorial Day: Arlington National Cemetery

Arlington National Cemetery
The cemetery, administered by the Department of the Army, was designated an official military cemetery in 1864. More than 300,000 veterans from all of the nation’s wars are buried there.
Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington County, Virginia, is a military cemetery in the United States of America, established during the American Civil War on the grounds of Arlington House, formerly the estate of the family of Confederate general Robert E. Lee’s wife Mary Anna (Custis) Lee, a great grand-daughter of Martha Washington. The cemetery is situated directly across the Potomac River from the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. It is served by the Arlington Cemetery station on the Blue Line of the Washington Metro system.
Arlington National Cemetery and United States Soldiers’ and Airmen’s Home National Cemetery are administered by the Department of the Army. The other national cemeteries are administered by the Department of Veterans Affairs or by the National Park Service. Arlington House (Custis-Lee Mansion) and its grounds are administered by the National Park Service as a memorial to Lee.
Don’t forget that our freedom was fought for! Thank you to all of our soldiers who fought for our country and our freedom.
My Maker And I’s CD RELEASE SHOW
May 26th, 2012
If you’ve been following the LBDM blog for any amount of time, you probably know that I love music! I have three preferences; I like to call them my “3 H’s”; hip hop, house and hardcore!!!!
Through hanging out in each of these scenes over the years, I have made some great friends, had some crazy good times and most importantly, fallen in love with some awesome bands.
My Maker and I is one of them!!!! In the last couple years, I haven’t been able to go to many shows at all, but the shows I miss the most and get the most crap about missing are the hardcore shows!!! Anyone who is a lover of metal or hardcore knows that there is an energy that is unmatched at these shows! The levels are high; passion, spirits, energy…they take over whatever arena you’re in. Even if it’s just concentrated to a single pit, it’s amazing!
I know the dudes from My Maker and I from the Maryland hardcore/metal scene. I have only been to one of their shows (sorry guys…i suck…i know!), but DON’T GET IT TWISTED…I follow their every move online! I love everything they stand for: Jesus, good music and good technique. They’re dedicated and it shows.
If you’ve in Maryland go to their CD Release Party TONIGHT! I thought I would be home, but I’m in Upstate NY for the weekend. Go there and two step for me!!!!
I LOVE YOU DUDES!!!!! ROCK IT OUT!!!!!

Getting Inspired: BMX
May 11th, 2012
Outside of running LITTLE, I work as a freelance designer and also had a part-time Graphic Design position. As of this past Monday, I am working for myself FULL-TIME!!!! It feels good to grow! I have been tremendously blessed in this past year and have gained so much knowledge in my industry and so much faith in my God!!! Someone once told me, “leap and the stairs will appear” (Thanks Amanda). I believe that God wants to me grow in my creativity and business and therefore, I leapt! Leaping is scary, but sometimes necessary and once you’ve gotten passed the nerves, it’s not so bad. All of my faith in this leap is in Christ! He’s my only safety net!
In the process of “leaping”, I’ve fallen in love with new things and revisited some old things. BMX has been my revisit/discovery in the past month. When we were in high school, a few of my friends were glued to their BMX bikes; some of them still are. My friend Jackie use to race BMX and always pushed me to and I never did. I have no idea why…maybe I was scared, maybe I was scared of the commitment…who knows. BMX and Motocross riders have always fascinated me because they are taking a machine and becoming one with it. There is much to be learned of the faith of a rider. LEAP!
RIP MCA!
May 8th, 2012
This blog has taken me days to get together. Not the content, but the fact hat I’m actually typing it. I heard the news about Adam Yauch aka MCA of the Beastie Boys passing away and my heart truly sunk. I didn’t know this man personally or have any other attachment to him or the Beastie trio besides listening to their music since middle school.
It took me a little while to realize that, that is my only attachment and how big of an attachment that actually is. Music can instantly take you to a place, a memory, a person, a place. From License to Ill to Hot Sauce Committee Part II, the Beastie Boys have been apart of my life, my memories, places and people that I’m fond of.
My prayers go out the the friends and family of MCA!
THANK YOU FOR CREATING THE MUSIC AND VIDEOS THAT CARRIED ME FROM A KID TO AN ADULT!!!
