My Little Brother is a Super Trooper!
August 31st, 2012
This past Tuesday was a frightening day. I got a call from one of my childhood friends that shook me to my core. My little brother and his lady friend were in a car accident on one of the main strips on Annapolis, Forest Drive. The impact to the driver side door was strong enough to flip the car and completely total it. The craziest part was that the person who hit my brother is a neighborhood friend of his who was on his way to the hospital after hearing his Grandfather had been taken to the Emergency Room. Already in distress and obviously shaken, he still helped my brother and his friend out of their cars.
Jasmine (the lady friend) suffered some minor cuts and bruises and an injured elbow while Malcolm suffered from a lacerated kidney and spleen. After 3 days in Shock Trauma in Baltimore (where he was flown to), he is coming home today! Yay! He has lost 30-40% of his spleen function and has a bruised kidney. He has experienced pain that was hard to witness and a lot of hospital drugs!
We never really know why God allows things like this to happen, but I believe that all things are meant for good in the long run. It’s hard for our human minds to wrap ourselves around that; ALL things, all bad things, all awful things? Can they really work together for good? Sometimes an awful occurrence can bring out the best in people, the betterment of our character or the start of a good thing. Sometimes we don’t know we really believe in something or stand for something until we have experienced it and sometimes we will stay stagnant in our everyday lives and selves unless life pushes us on to bigger and better things!
My little brother encompasses the spirit of this brand! He dreams, he laughs, he floats from social group to social group with ease and does it all BIG! That’s why I love him so much! Malcolm and Jasmine will always have this experience and we will always appreciate how much she cares about him.
Keep them in your prayers. They are not completely healed yet, but are on the way home! LBDM has gotten their model back!
Fermin Mendoza
August 29th, 2012
Fermin and I were showing art at the same group show at LITM in Jersey City earlier this year. After chatting for a bit about our pieces and concepts, he asked if he could snap a photo of me for his a series of portraits he’s working on. I said yes, and then ‘SNAP!’.
I received an email a couple days ago from Fermin. The night of the group show was so busy, that it was easy to slightly forget all the wonderful personalities I met. Fermin reminded me of who he was and it was almost as if no time had passed. He attached his portrait…of me! Made by “cutting stencils from paper, spray painting the images onto 6″x 6″ prepared cardboard, then filling-in details with colored pencils and oil paint”.
I love it!!!! I hope you do to!!!
LBDM x Go DJ
August 26th, 2012
The LBDM ‘Oh Snap’ tee made a cameo on the “GO DJ” (Version #1) video short by Brandon Bazemore! The best part about this isn’t just the shirt cameo, but that I’ve known Brandon for a while now, meeting at a True School Party in Baltimore a few years back. I’ve run into him at many more hip-hop functions around the Maryland/DC area since and there’s always an exchange of love and an understanding of working as a creative.
Check out Brandon’s video GO DJ!

Inspire Me: Annapolis
August 7th, 2012
In starting a Streetwear Brand, I tried to follow in the footsteps of those who did it so well before me. After doing this for a few years, I realized that there is one problem wrong with this Brand! It is uniquely inspired and uniquely created but not a pure representation of who I am. It has been more of a representation of what has inspired me from the Streetwear Culutre. Though this has made for some good product, great tees and great new friends and customers, it’s time to expand this Brand into what is it truly suppose to be; a representation of Darin Michelle!
I grew up in Annapolis, MD. Annapolis is known for it’s sailboat culture. I never got to into boats much, but have ALWAYS appreciated the culture that makes this town what it is. I will always be drawn to sailor shoes and cargo pants and that is just something I’ve learned to accept! Lol!
The next products coming out of LBDM will feel like home…my home! Sometimes you have to take it back to the basics. It’s funny how you think you’re already there and it’s right under your nose.
Taking Pictures of Clouds
August 7th, 2012
There is something beautiful about clouds. I get disappointed when there aren’t clouds in the sky. A sunny day with a few fluffy clouds is my favorite kind of day. My husband prefers the sky at sunset; the colors and texture of clouds that seem to be totally stretched out or splotched in the sky. Either way, they are a beautiful sight!

This is probably one of my favorite songs from Rapsody! She means every word she says in this song. I def Believe Her! I love this. I hope y’all too!
